Crystal Palace midfielder Nick Carle has been released by the Championship outfit and signed for Sydney FC on a three year deal. The 28 year old Australian international will join the A-League as Sydney's marquee player for a reported $650,000 a season.

Palace have fallen into administration and were keen to rid themselves of Carle's wages so released him as a free agent despite having two years to run on his current deal.

Sky Blues boss Vitezslav Lavicka will be pleased to have finally secured the signing of a player he has been pursuing for some months.
