John Carew has declared he wants to put roots down in Birmingham and play out his career at Aston Villa.

"I'm very happy here, I'm very proud to be part of the club," he told Villa's official website. "There's great ambition and I'm sure we have a great future.

"That's why I signed a new contract, I love the club. I love the fans and we have a great group of players.

"Football in this country suits me very well. It's a very quick game, which I really like. I think I've found the right football country.

"I would like to finish my career here, I'm not thinking of going anywhere else."
