John Carew wants to stay with Aston Villa.

Villa are yet to decide whether to offload the £52,500-a-week forward or offer him a new contract as he has just 12 months left on his current deal.

Carew's injuries have not been serious enough to have required surgery and he insisted: "It's just pure bad luck, just coincidence.

"I had some small injuries and that set me back for a couple of months.

"In the last two seasons I would have easily scored more than 20 goals if I didn't have them because I lost a good amount of games. I easily lost ten or 15 games over the last two seasons.

"I played a big part of the first part of the season, and almost a big part for the second half."
