Burrows said: "Patrick is immense for this club, a giant. He inspires those around him and is a general on the pitch.

"He was a handful at both ends today and every club needs somebody of his stature if you want to do well."

The centre-back is relishing Wednesday's Carling Cup trip to Chelsea ... even though it could be a step into the execution chamber after the weekend walloping of Manchester City.

"They're on fire at the moment," he added.

"But there are no expectations on us from anybody except ourselves and certainly no fear either. We'll go there and enjoy it and then get ready for a big league game at Colchester next weekend."
