Cardiff veteran Bellamy questions Wales capping Liverpool teen Wilson

Cardiff City veteran Craig Bellamy is critical of Wales capping 16 year-old Liverpool winger Harry Wilson.

Manager Chris Coleman confirmed that Wales had been made aware that Wilson, who was born in Wrexham, could have qualified for Roy Hodgson's team via his grandmother, who was born in Chester.

"I'm not sure about it," the 34-year-old, who is the third most highly capped player in his country's history, said. "I really don't know.

"I think Harry's a talent. I think he's going to do well in the years to come. But I'd like to see him do well first (before being capped).

"I don't mean that in a bad way, but 16 years old is young, it's really young.

"He can't play for anyone else now but is that really the most important thing? I've known him for some time and I've seen his progress. He's great.

"I've taken an interest in it because he's the same age as my boy. So it's one of those. I'd like to see the lad given a chance.

"I'm just not sure about it at the age of 16. There's plenty more time to address the situation."
