Shaun Maloney says Scotland teammate David Marshall is well worth the £15 million Cardiff City are demanding for his sale.
Arsenal, Liverpool, Newcastle United and Tottenham have all been linked with the Scotland goalkeeper.
Wigan Athletic midfielder Maloney said: "The value is just a reflection of the way the game is in the Premiership.
"You see players going between English clubs for big sums so it wouldn't be a surprise.
"I don't think any club who are interested will get him at a reduced price just because he's dropped to the Championship.
"In fact, Cardiff might want to keep him because of the lure of the finances if they get back into the Premiership. That might dictate they want to hold on to him.
"But certainly in terms of the teams being linked with him, I don't think there's a great gulf between David and the keepers they already have."
