Cardiff unhappy with improved Birmingham bid for Johnson

Birmingham City have made a final bid for Cardiff City defender Roger Johnson.

The Birmingham Mail says having had an initial £3.5million bid turned down three weeks ago, reports in Wales suggest Blues have returned with an improved bid for the centre-half.

The new offer, made on Friday, is said to be an initial £4million but with add-ons that could take the fee to £5million, closer to the Bluebirds' valuation of 26-year-old Johnson.

However, sources close to Cardiff suggest the Championship club aren't happy with the structure of the current offer on the table as it is believed to be spread over a number of years and dependant on Blues' success or failure in that period.
