Cardiff swoop for Wigan keeper Kirkland

Cardiff City have swooped for Wigan Athletic goalkeeper Chris Kirkland.

The Daily Mail says Kirkland has signed for Cardiff City on loan for the rest of the season to solve their goalkeeping crisis.

City will be without goalkeeper Tom Heaton who picked up a groin injury in the victory over Hull on Saturday.

Back up goalkeeper David Marshall requires surgery on an elbow ligament injury which has been postponed for the last three weeks so Kirkland, 29, will be thrust into action immediately in their next game away to Nottingham Forest.
