Cardiff striker Campbell pleased Hoddle pushing him for England call

Cardiff City striker Fraizer Campbell has welcomed praise from Tottenham legend Glenn Hoddle.

In the wake of the point against Manchester United, former England manager Hoddle urged his successor Roy Hodgson to consider Campbell for the World Cup.

"It was a massive confidence boost, hearing something like that from someone like Glenn Hoddle, but I know I have to take it with a pinch of salt," Campbell told the Telegraph.

"But I've definitely improved since my first cap. When I was picked, I'd just come back from a long-term injury and was still trying to refind my feet. But now I feel match fit, have played a lot of games consecutively and am a much better player.

"It's about that consistency of performance and if you can do it week in, week out then you don't know where it can take you."
