Craig Bellamy was key to Liverpool signing Swansea City midfielder Joe Allen.

Bellamy, was has since left Liverpool for Cardiff City, was in GB teammate Allen's ear during the Olympics urging him to move to Anfield.

Bellamy said: "Yes, I spent the last three weeks hounding Joe Allen to go to Liverpool. They have got an immense player.

"Joe, Brendan and Liverpool will all be great winners out of this. It has been a pleasure to spend the last few weeks with him.

"I am a huge fan of Brendan and I think Liverpool will do great under him. The hardest thing for me was leaving Liverpool - but I'm doing it for the right reasons."
