Cardiff City's bid to have their transfer embargo lifted has suffered a further setback after they were reported to the Football League by Charlton Athletic, reports the Daily Mail. The Addicks have lodged a complaint over the delay of a £500,000 payment following the sale of defender Mark Hudson last summer.
The failure to meet the final instalment is certain to land Cardiff, who reached the Championship play-off final last season, back in hot water with the authorities.
Despite a Far East takeover in May, Cardiff remain in dire straits financially and were hit with a transfer embargo earlier this summer.
The new Malaysian investors have since pleaded with Dave Jones' squad to defer their bonus money while the players' wages arrived last month later than normal.
They are also facing their fourth winding-up order in six months over an unpaid £1.3m tax bill, even through the club are confident of settling the debt to avoid the threat of administration.
