Cardiff new boy Chamakh: Arsenal boss Wenger disrespected me

Marouane Chamakh has accused Arsene Wenger of showing him no respect.

The Moroccan striker was a bit-part player or the Gunners between 2010 and 2013 before leaving for Crystal Palace after a short loan at West Ham United.

After arriving from French club Bordeaux in the summer of 2010, Chamakh enjoyed some consistent game time under Wenger before being cast aside when Robin van Persie returned form injury.

In an interview with French outlet RMC Sport,Cardiff City signing Chamakh said: "When I started, it was great. I took advantage of the injury to van Persie, which left me free reign.

"I played for six months, I've scored goals, I was decisive.

"[Then] in January, Robin returned from injury and overnight, I landed on the bench without justification.

"Yes, it is clear that I am a little annoyed with him [Wenger] because I think I deserved more playing time than what I was given.

"As the year began, at the start of the season, he told me that we might change formation and I would maybe be able to play up front with Robin.

"They were nothing but promises, nothing happened. For the aims that I had, I think it was a little bit a lack of respect.

"I started well and then the next day he shades me out like that.

"For the goals I had, I think it was a little disrespectful.

"I started well and overnight it slip away like that. He asked me to be patient, told me that Robin would not string together more than ten matches, because he was going to hurt, but it lasted a whole year.

"I make a decision and I left the club."
