Cardiff defender Cala faces improper conduct charge

The Football Association has charged Cardiff defender Juan Cala with improper conduct after his dismissal against Sunderland on Sunday, reports SkySports. Cala was given a straight red card by referee Phil Dowd shortly before half-time after he conceded a penalty by pulling back Connor Wickham.

But Cala has been accused of improper conduct for an incident in the tunnel at the Stadium of Light at the end of the match.

A statement from the FA read: "Cardiff City's Juan Cala has been charged by The FA following his side's game against Sunderland on 27 April 2014.

"The charge is in relation to an alleged incident in or around the tunnel area after the end of the fixture, which amounts to improper conduct.

"Cala has until 6pm on 1 May 2014 to respond to the charge."
