Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock insists Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk is overrated.

Warnock has declared Sol Bamba the better defender.

He told the Daily Mail: "Yes, (Virgil) van Dijk is better on the ball but I'd rather have a Bamba than a Van Dijk. I tried to sign Van Dijk for Palace and the chief scout said he's not quick enough.

"If you look back at my record, that Sheffield United team was all about the dressing room. Notts County, they were the same types.

"We're well organised, but have characters and winners."
