Cardiff boss wants a weekend to remember for Wales

Cardiff boss Malky Mackay is looking for the Championship outfit to win the Carling Cup final against Liverpool to complete a Welsh sporting treble weekend. The Wales rugby team will be going for a Six Nations Triple Crown against England at Twickenham on Saturday, while Caerphilly fighter Nathan Cleverly defends his WBO light-heavyweight title against Tommy Karpency later in the evening.

Mackay said: "The Welsh rugby team are flying high, they did great at the World Cup and I see some of the work that goes on in the training camp they have here and we are delighted with how they are doing at the moment.

"We had Nathan up at the training ground one day, no-one wanted to take the ball off him in case he decided to turn nasty and it would be great for Cardiff and Wales if he can win the title.

"We have the Sunday at Wembley and then they have thrown in St David's Day for the hell of it.

"We go to Wembley and we are not going there to make up the numbers, we are going there to win that game. When you get this far you want to win it and that's what we are going to try and do."
