Cardiff City boss Malky Mackay paid tribute to axed head of recruitment Iain Moody after their derby win over Swansea City.

Former Tottenham defender Caulker proved the matchwinner at the CCS.

After victory Mackay made a pointed reference to Moody's recruitment system.

He said: "The signing of Caulker (from Tottenham) was crucial. I couldn't believe we actually got him, certainly for the price we ended up paying.

"He was brave to step out of being a squad player at Spurs, but he did it with the best intentions for his football career and not his pocket. We did our homework on him and were able to get him."
