Cardiff boss Mackay happy to give Cornelius fresh minutes

Cardiff City boss Malky Mackay was happy to hand Andreas Cornelius more first team action in defeat to Southampton.

Cornelius played the second-half against Southampton after coming on in the break for Peter Odemwingie. Mackay said he was impressed by what he saw from the young Danish striker.

"It's small steps in terms of getting Andreas back into it," said Mackay.

"He has been out a long time with a bad ankle injury. I thought he and Fraizer linked up quite well up there and, he showed some nice touches. It's his first season in the Premier League but he was player of the year in Denmark which was why we bought him."
