Cardiff City boss Dave Jones says he doesn't want to lose Everton and Tottenham target Joe Ledley.

He told Sky Sports News: "I don't want Joe to go, I'm sure the fans don't want Joe to go but both parties are right in what they say - Joe says he hasn't been offered a contract but we've got to get his agents to sit in front of us to offer him a contract and they're not very forthcoming at the moment.

"So if Joe wants to stay here the chairman has made it clear he will have to sign an extension to his contract otherwise we'll have to let him go because we can't let him run his contract down although we feel quite strong in that position because then we can get compensation for him because of his age.

"So it's just a Catch-22 at the moment. But we want him to stay, I think Joe loves it here, he wants to take this club into the Premiership and he would like to be part of that and the only way he can be part of it if he signs an extension to his contract."
