Cardiff boss Jones pens new contract

Cardiff City boss Dave Jones has signed a new contract with the club.

There is no length of time put on the contract, but Jones has agreed to a clause to give 12 months notice or else a hefty compensation must be paid.

Jones, 51, has also put aside part of his salary to buy shares in the ambitious Championship club.

"I've been discussing this deal for about seven months so now that it's done and dusted I'm really pleased," Jones told BBC Wales Sport.

"I've started building something there - it's a club on the up and expectation levels have risen.

"Not many managers get the opportunity to build something because normally when you go to a club a lot of things are already in place.

"But there was nothing in place at Cardiff so everything we're putting in there now is coming from us."
