Cardiff boss Jones excited seeing Arsenal midfielder Ramsey make Wales comeback

Cardiff City boss Dave Jones is delighted seeing Arsenal youngster Aaron Ramsey preparing for his Wales comeback.

He wondered if the horrific double leg break at Stoke, which sidelined Ramsey for nearly a year, might have slowed his progress.

But Jones maintains those fears were totally groundless.

He said: "The difference in his strength and his maturity - both on and off the pitch - was amazing. It really was a case of someone leaving as a boy and coming back as a man.

"He needed a few weeks training and a couple of games to really get going but, by the end of the month, he was absolutely flying. I was a bit concerned about what that awful injury might do to him, mentally more than anything. But I needn't have worried.

"He is so strong mentally, and he certainly hasn't been holding anything back. If you are going to have a bad injury like that, I suppose it's better to have it at 19 than at 29. Aaron was obviously watching from the sidelines, soaking stuff in and counting the days until he could pick up where he left off.

"And he just has so much quality on the ball - like Wilshere and the lad at Everton, Jack Rodwell. I rate all three up there with the very best young players anywhere in Europe.

"It is too simplistic to say the result of Saturday's match will be decided by the Ramsey-Wilshere battle - but it is a heck of a fight within a fight.

"Aaron is going to need to be at his very best, along with every one of his team-mates but pride and home advantage will count for a lot."
