Cardiff City are battling Tottenham for Benfica striker Nelson Oliveira.

The Mirror says Oliveira, a 21-year-old full Portugal international, is being made available after falling out of favour at the Lisbon giants - he can go for a £1million loan fee, with a £6m option for a permanent deal.

Premier League new boys Cardiff are very keen as they build a squad to compete in the top flight, but are aware that Tottenham's Portuguese boss Andre Villas-Boas is also interested and has made discreet enquiries.
