Cardiff attacker Bellamy: Wales just can't compete

Cardiff City veteran Craig Bellamy insists Wales simply are not good enough to reach the World Cup.

It is a far cry from the days when Mark Hughes' crop came within a whisker of reaching the 2004 European Championships in Portugal, losing a play-off to Russia.

Bellamy said: "We haven't qualified for major tournaments because the teams have not been good enough and I have not been good enough. It's a simple fact. We have to get out of that routine of being poor old Wales.

"Even today people are saying we are unlucky. F*** unlucky - excuse my language - I am fed up with it.

"Defeats demoralise you. I felt we could not compete in a lot of games and that was really difficult to live with. I can handle losing, but not being able to lay a hand on someone is hard to take."
