Cardiff City asked for Malky Mackay's resignation, it has been revealed.
The Daily Mail says Mackay was asked to resign by Cardiff City, despite the club's denials that they are attempting to push their manager out of the door.
A well-placed club insider has confirmed to the Daily Mail that the Scot was asked to tender his resignation, though he revealed it did not happen this week and that the initial decision to remove Mackay's head of recruitment, Iain Moody, was actually taken weeks before he was placed on gardening leave on Tuesday.
It was that call by owner Vincent Tan to remove Moody that has plunged the Premier League newcomers into chaos, with the club replacing Mackay's right-hand man with Alisher Apsalyamov, a 23-year-old Kazakhstani who is friends with Tan's son U-Jiun.
Mackay is determined not to step down, however, and took training on Thursday and Wednesday as normal.
