Capture of Taylor a sign of intent by West Ham

West Ham boss Sam Allardyce says the signing of Matt Taylor shows the club look to bounce straight back to the Premier League at the first attempt. The 29 year old has joined the relegated Hammers from Bolton for an undisclosed fee, becoming the third player to drop down a division to move to Upton Park following the captures of Kevin Nolan and Abdoulaye Faye.

"I have known Matt for a long time in the Premier League," said Allardyce.

"It shows our desire to get a group of players together that want to get us back to the Premier League as quickly as possible.

"It is about the club being big enough for them to come down and want to play football and try to get us back into the Premier League."
