Sacha Kljestan completed his transfer from Anderlecht to New York Red Bulls on Wednesday.
The 29-year old midfielder returns to MLS after spending the past four-and-a-half years in Belgium and his arrival at the Red Bull Arena had sporting director Ali Curtis in a very buoyant mood as the 2015 season looms closer.
"All along we've been trying to bring players to the club that fit the way we want to play from a style perspective," Curtis said after the signing was complete.
"He's got great leadership and experience, and from a character standpoint we felt Sacha really fits in well with what we're trying to achieve with the club, not only for 2015 but for years beyond."
Despite the positivity that comes with the signing of former Chivas USA star Kljestan, Curtis did admit that it was quite a tricky transfer to conduct.
"I've worked on a number of different transfers and player signings and this transaction was especially, it was a challenge," he added.
During his career with Anderlecht, Kljestan made over 175 appearances on his way to three Belgian Pro League titles as well as four Belgian Super Cups.
