Russia coach Fabio Capello insists he was taken by surprise over Tottenham's axing of Andre Villas-Boas.

Capello was at White Hart Lane on Sunday for Spurs' thrashing by Liverpool.

"I didn't know," Capello told Onda Cero last night, "I have been flying all day and then I arrived here [in Russia] and ate with the people from the association."
