England coach Fabio Capello IS keeping tabs on Newcastle United defender Steven Taylor.
The Evening Chronicle says the Italian dispatched his assistant Stuart Pearce to run the rule over United on Monday night at Queens Park Rangers, and Taylor's impressive performance was noted by the man who entrusted him with the captaincy of the Under-21 side in his fledgling years.
England are likely to keep faith with the bulk of the squad that polished off Wales and Bulgaria next month for the final qualifier with Montenegro, but there could be some experimentation in the friendly games before Euro 2012 - and with Capello set to quit his post this summer, part of Pearce's role is to look to the future.
