Hull City defender Michael Turner is being closely monitored by national coach Fabio Capello ahead of Saturday's friendly with Slovakia.

Turner has been struggling with a thigh injury recently but Capello is keen to have him fit for a spot in the England squad.

Tigers boss Phil Brown confirmed the interest in Turner in the Hull Daily Mail.

"They've been in touch with regard to his fitness levels but it's not officially a call-up," Brown said.

"He's nursing a pulled thigh and got a whack on his side as well, but Michael is a good character that gets through games.

"We'll assess the situation in the next 24 hours."
