Capello: I need Man Utd, Chelsea to FAIL in Champions League

England boss Fabio Capello wants Premiership clubs to fail in this season's Champions League.

Capello is concerned that a repeat of the 2008 Chelsea v Manchester United final could leave key members of his squad - including John Terry, Frank Lampard and Wayne Rooney - physically and mentally drained in the few days before the squad fly to South Africa.

He said: "There could be eight or nine players from the squad taking part. It's a problem, because after this game if there are nine players from the England team in the final, we will need a minimum of four or five days to relax them afterwards."

Capello is also worried about the psychological scars should an English team lose in the final, particularly after John Terry's devastation when his penalty miss cost Chelsea European glory last year.

"If they win, then the players will be happy and it will be psychologically important for them," said the Italian. "However, if they have lost it will not be easy for them to recover their forces physically and psychologically."
