Capello has no doubts over temperament of Man Utd star Rooney

England boss Fabio Capello insists he has no concerns over Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney's temperament going into the World Cup.

Rooney's stamp on Portugal's Ricardo Carvalho in 2006 left England down to 10 men for almost an hour in a game they eventually lost on penalties. But Capello believes that Rooney, now 24, will avoid such confrontations again.

"Rooney will be one of the most important players at the World Cup," said Capello. "And with the big players, the opposing managers will think we have to be careful and watch him. But we don't fear that.

"He knows everything that will happen during the games and the referees do also."

Capello has initiated five minutes of silence in the dressing room before his half-time team talk in a bid to calm down the players, a fact which helped to transform the game against Egypt, when Rooney was visibly frustrated with his team-mates.

"He was not so happy when he arrived in the dressing room," added Capello. "But I spoke with the players and said they have to be quiet for five minutes. They drink to rehydrate and nothing more. We have to stay quiet."
