Capello fast losing England players handing captaincy back to Chelsea defender Terry

England coach Fabio Capello is fast losing the players over his decision to replace Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand as captain with Chelsea's John Terry.

The Daily Mail says Capello will give the news to his squad on Monday night but some players are aghast at the decision to reinstate the Chelsea defender.

Ferdinand, who followed Terry into the captaincy but is currently injured, is said to be 'bewildered' by the decision and Capello's failure to keep him informed.

Ferdinand sat just yards away from Capello in the Manchester United directors' box to watch his team's 1-0 win over Bolton.

But England's manager made no apparent attempt to talk to Ferdinand. Terry was stripped of the captaincy last year when Capello claimed he was a bad example to children after allegedly conducting an affair - denied by both parties - with the former fiancée of his friend and team-mate Wayne Bridge.

Ferdinand has told friends that Capello displayed a lack of 'courtesy and respect' by failing to inform him of Terry's reinstatement before going public.

Other senior players are furious over Capello's move.

Even some who are supportive of Terry as captain feel that Ferdinand, vice-captain Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard, stand-in captain for last month's friendly in Denmark, have been treated appallingly.
