Capello Euro plans on brink of disaster over Chelsea skipper Terry's controversy

Chelsea skipper John Terry's alleged race row threatens to wreck England's European Championship hopes.

The Daily Mail says England manager Fabio Capello may have lost Wayne Rooney for the three group games in Poland and Ukraine, and if Terry is charged with racially abusing Anton Ferdinand he will be looking for a new captain, possibly even a new centre half.

But whatever the outcome of the FA inquiry into events at Loftus Road on Sunday, not to mention the police investigation, the situation will have an impact on Capello's squad.

It will centre on Terry and Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand, who is understood to be fully supportive of his younger brother in this matter, and the player who could find himself caught between England's two best centre halves - Ashley Cole.

Sources close to Cole say he is increasingly uncomfortable with the situation given his close relationship with Ferdinand.
