Asked if he would be staying on, Capello insisted: "It does not depend on me, it depends on the president. The ball is now in his court.

"I told him in that meeting last week that I wanted to continue. Now it's up to him. If he wants someone else, he should tell me."

"We'll see what happens. I have never felt great support from Calderon."

Capello also was again quick to acknowledge his mistake in bombing out David Beckham earlier this season after he had signed for LA Galaxy.

"It's my one great regret from this season," said Capello. "Not giving consideration to Beckham was wrong. I regret doing that after he had signed (for Galaxy)."
