England boss Fabio Capello has confirmed that West Ham United's Matthew Upson will start against Slovenia in Port Elizabeth on Wednesday.

The Three Lions are experiencing a defender shortage after injuries to Rio Ferdinand and Ledley King and now Jamie Carraghjer is suspended leaving a vacancy for Upson.

"Upson will play because he always played with John Terry and I probably will change some others," Capello told the BBC.
