England boss Fabio Capello has concerns over the morale of Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick.

The News of the World says Carrick's wife Lisa gave birth just over two weeks ago and the England midfielder has hardly seen his family since the new arrival.

The Manchester United midfielder was under-par in last Monday's World Cup warm-up against Mexico at Wembley and is in danger of missing the 23-man cut.

Capello has been monitoring the players' behaviour at their Austrian training camp and noted Carrick had become increasingly withdrawn during their stay in the Alps.
