Capello blast for Portsmouth keeper James

England boss Fabio Capello rapped Portsmouth goalkeeper David James for his performance in this week's 2-2 draw with the Czech Republic.

Capello told James he should have done better with Marek Jankulovski's curving free-kick which put the Czechs 2-1 ahead just after half-time at Wembley on Wednesday.

It is rare for the Italian to single out players for criticism but the Portsmouth stopper was left in no doubt he was not happy.

An England insider told The Sun: "Fabio felt David was not well positioned and thought he might have made more of an attempt to stop it."

But Capello still believes James, 38, is the right man to wear the No 1 shirt for the World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Croatia next month.
