Manchester United forward Anthony Martial has revealed the role club legends Eric Cantona and Patrice Evra played in luring him to Old Trafford.

The 20-year-old Frenchman told Inside United the success his compatriots Cantona and current Juventus left-back Evra enjoyed during their time at the Red Devils inspired him to follow a similar path.

"Cantona is truly a legend here and he is a real reference for me too. He was a great player," Martial said.

"You also have Pat Evra who lives in the same town as me in France and who has only had good things to say to me about the club.

"He told me it was a club of champions, a club that above else wants to win and certainly since I've arrived here I've felt that for myself too. So I hope that this year we are going to manage to win something."
