Adrian Cann has walked out on Toronto FC.
The club's MVP for 2010 is unhappy with the way new contract talks had been progressing.
"Adrian is heading into the second year of a four-year contract," Toronto coach Aaron Winter said.
"We are currently in discussions with (Major League Soccer) regarding the situation and are assessing the options available to us."
The Toronto Star says Cann, who was selected TFC's player of the year, had a guaranteed salary in 2010 of $65,342 (all figures U.S.) in a league with a minimum of $40,000.
Cann was slated to get a substantial raise in 2011, taking him above the $100,000 a year mark.
