Yesterday, upon the announcement of his departure, Canizares insisted sacked coach Ronald Koeman wasn't the only one to blame for his isolation this season.
"Koeman is not the only one guilty for what I have suffered," said Canizares. "He made a tactical decision, but the club should have realised that this decision was not good for the team, the club or results. The club had to intervene much earlier. It was a personal decision by Koeman.
"The club has accepted my proposal to dissolve my contract. I'm playing now because the team needs me, but I do not know what I'll do from next season. I'm 38. I will have to think very carefully about my next decision."
