Cani has signed a new three-year contract with Villarreal.

The 29-year-old, whose existing deal was due to run out this summer, is now tied to the Yellow Submarine until June 2014.

Cani joined Villarreal from home-town club Real Zaragoza in 2006 and this season has played in all but two of the club's 21 league games, helping them to third in the standings.
