Lazio midfielder Antonio Candreva admits ending the year in second-place feels strange.
Lazio are eight points behind Serie A leaders Juventus.
"We got off to a great start, but we've been preparing for this since the first day of pre-season training with the Coach," midfielder Candreva told Lazio Style Radio.
"It is wonderful being in second place and it feels a bit strange. We're also doing very well in Europe, as it's not easy to finish top of your Europa League group.
"We've dropped a few Serie A points along the way and should be closer to Juve, but in any case we're on the right track. We prepare every game to score more than our opponents, but also not to concede.
"Let us continue like this and then in May we'll see where we end up."
