Candela admits Roma pulled out of Blanc talks

Vincent Candela has revealed AS Roma pulled out of talks with Laurent Blanc over the coaching job.

Roma moved for Blanc before yesterday's appointment of Rudi Garcia.

"I have known Blanc for 25 years and he would've brought me with him, thinking I had something to give," former Roma star Candela told Radio Manà Manà.

"The club then made its decisions. I know they spoke to Blanc and he really liked Roma, but then they made other choices. I hope Garcia can do well, as after two years they need a turnaround."

Candela added: "I would've had a role between the bench and the field, as Blanc wanted someone he could trust who already knew the players and environment. Blanc would've brought his assistant manager, his fitness coach and me.

"Will I work for Roma under Garcia? I said last year I've been in football for a long time and consider myself an honest, fair and objective person. If Roma wanted me, I think they'd have called me over the last seven years. They probably didn't even consider me."
