Canada to meet Japan in Qatar friendly

The Canadian national team will take on Asian champions Japan in an international friendly in Qatar in March.

The 64th-ranked Canadian outfit will meet the 22nd-ranked Blue Samurai in Doha on March 22 some 12 years after the two sides last met. On that occasion, back in 2001, Japan defeated the Canucks 3-0 at FIFA's Confederations Cup in Niigata.

Canada, with interim coach Colin Miller at the helm, are up against Denmark on January 26 and the USA on January 30 before they prepare for the Japanese fixture.
