Can to add goals to his game after moving into Liverpool midfield

Emre Can is determined to begin scoring goals for Liverpool now he is in a more advanced position.

The 21-year-old German spent much of last season at full-back or in a three-man defence for Brendan Rodgers but has started two matches in midfield this campaign which is motivating him to improve his scoring output.

"I want to do more in attack and I know I can improve in that area of my game," the told the Liverpool Echo.

"I want to do much more going forward in terms of scoring goals and providing assists.

"I'm trying to bring that into my game and I'm working on it in training.

"I always try to do my best and put in the running and help out in defence. I'm determined to work hard in defence and in attack."

The former Bayer Leverkusen young gun added: "Playing in midfield means you have to take more responsibility. That means I want to score more goals and help the team to get results.

"I haven't got a particular target of scoring five or 10 goals,' Can added. 'I take one game at a time.

"Perhaps I do have one target of scoring more goals than last season and last year I only scored one goal.

"Hopefully it will be more this season."

Can made his senior international debut for Germany in Friday night's 3-1 Euro2016 qualifying win over Poland, operating for 90 minutes as a right-back, before going the distance again in Monday night's 3-2 in over Scotland in Glasgow.
