“The mistakes we have been making during pre-season must be eradicated by the time we play our first match,” he told the Western Mail.
“We won’t get a second chance then. Mistakes will be punished.
“But we’ve worked hard to achieve Premier League status and we’ll do everything possible to stay there.
“That’s the first aim and anything above that is a bonus.
“We’ll dig deep, work hard for each other, compete in every match and believe, come the end of the season, we can achieve the points total needed.
“That all starts at West Ham.
“There is nothing better than Premier League football for me, it’s the best, and the standard is unforgiving.”
