Campbell wants striker role at Sunderland

Fraizer Campbell admits he'd prefer to play as striker at Sunderland.

For the defeat at Tottenham, Campbell played on the wing.

He told The Journal: "Sometimes, you have to play for the team and that's really what I was trying to do at Spurs.

"I was playing wide on the right and I tried to support the midfield and defence as much as possible. That's a job I think I'm capable of doing, but it would obviously be nice to be playing up front in the Arsenal game.

"I'd like to be up there partnering Darren, but if the manager decides he wants me to play on the right of midfield again, that will obviously be okay. It was hard to really show what I could do because I was covering a lot of ground and defending.

"Hopefully, in the next game, I'll be able to show what I can do in attack."
