Sol Campbell faces a massive pay-cut if he is to stay with Portsmouth.
The Times says Campbell will have his wages cut by more than half if he accepts the offer of a new two-year contract from Portsmouth. The former England defender has been paid £90,000 a week, but is one of 15 players at the club who are out of contract this month. The proposed deal is worth about £40,000 a week including appearance-related payments.
Campbell has played 95 league matches for Portsmouth since moving to Fratton Park from Arsenal three years ago and he captained the club to their FA Cup triumph in 2008. The centre half, who began his career at Tottenham Hotspur and who has made two lucrative Bosman moves, has also attracted interest from Basle and Fenerbahçe.
