Cameroon coach Hugo Broos has confirmed axing Tottenham winger Clinton Njie from his latest squad.

Njie has spent part of this season on-loan with Marseille, but Broos says he hasn't done enough to keep his place.

He explained: "Clinton Njie is a special case. Everyone tells me, and I also know that he is a player with very good qualities. The problem is that he almost never shows his qualities during matches. We saw him at the African Cup. The performances he produced were not at his level. I told him so.

"He must be aware of his qualities, and be aware that it is not enough. His performances in Marseille were not good too. It is not for a matter of indiscipline that Clinton Njie is not summoned. Never believe what social networks say.

"When you look at what Clinton did in the first game at the CAN, I think he does not deserve to be called now."
