Aston Villa striker Callum Robinson admits he was almost cut loose as a 14 year-old.
The young forward penned new terms earlier this month.
"I nearly got released at under-14s, but they kept faith in me, the coaches," Robinson told the Birmingham Mail.
"I have to thank all of them, Tony McAndrew, Sean Verity, Ben Petty, Steve Burns, all of them.
"They have all given me a chance - even Kevin MacDonald when he was here. All of them have had faith in me.
"I'm really happy to sign a new contract with Villa. I've been here since I was eight years old and hopefully I can get myself moving on and get into the first team."
