Callum Gribbin has joined first team training at Manchester United.
The fleet-footed winger trained with the handful of senior players who returned to Carrington early last week and remained in the top group on Monday.
There is a chance Gribbin may be selected for United's upcoming tour of the United States as Van Gaal, famous for promoting young talent, once again casts his eye over those coming through the Old Trafford academy.
United legend Edwin van dar Sar stated last month: "I know Gribbo also from the time when I watched the sessions with (son) Joe at the Aon Training Complex and it's great.
"There are some others, I think Marcus Rashford is another of the kids there and, last year, you took a player from our youth academy - Timothy Fosu-Mensah. I saw his name also on the Under-21s' bench recently so I'm getting the updates from the Under-18s and it's good."
